The People with the Grow How

SUMMER PRUNING

Pruning can now be done lightly on roses (tip pruning).  Hydrangeas will also need to be cut back by 20-30% after flowering

Remember that plants that flower on the previous season’s growth, like hydrangeas, philadelphus and weigelia, need this early pruning to allow for additional growth between February and May – before dormancy, so that the following spring and summer results in prolific flowering.
